The existence of a corporation begins with the Articles of Incorporation being filed with the appropriate state authorities, usually the Secretary of State.

A 501(c) organization, is an American tax-exempt nonprofit organization. Section 501(c) of the United States Internal Revenue Code provides that 28 types of nonprofit organization are exempt from some federal income taxes.
